Kaczmar was eligible this year as a sophomore and while he could have signed if he really wanted to, he chose to honor his transfer portal commitment to South Carolina. The rising junior had a career year in which he slashed .320/.417/.476 with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBIs in 55 games. Kaczmar stands nearly straight up in the box with a low handset, though he has no shortage of hand speed and showed off his ability to work either gap. He figures to be the Gamecocks’ everyday shortstop this spring, and his defensive skill set will allow him to get the chance to stick there professionally.
