A 6-foot, 186-pound shortstop, Cyr stands out for his bat speed and bat-to-ball skills. Since last summer Cyr has added plenty of strength and mass to his frame, which has resulted in worse run times but a bit more power in his game. Cyr has compact strength in his frame and a swing leveraged for power, though how much game power he will get to at the next level is a question. He has an aggressive approach at the plate and will expand the zone, but the swing itself is clean and he’s shown the hand speed to square up 90-plus mph velocity. A shortstop now, Cyr certainly has the arm strength for the left side of the infield, with above-average throwing ability and good carry, but he might lack the range and actions to stick at the position long term. Some scouts think he would be an interesting catcher-conversion candidate with the aptitude to make that transition. Cyr is committed to Miami.
